Piano Foundations
Reading music can be easy.
And if you've had trouble reading music before, it's not your fault.
Unfortunately, music teachers around the world make reading music MUCH harder than it needs to be.
The "Every Good Boy Does Fine" method...
Have you heard of it?
This is the most inefficient way to read music and causes most students to quit before they even begin.
Yet almost all music teachers teach this!
I know this because I used to be one of them.
And I would endure the horrible experience of watching my students struggle, wishing their was a better way.
Then in 2013, I developed a better way to read music. I called it "The Problem Reduction Method".
I watched as my private piano students not only begin to read music fast, but also began to ENJOY reading music.
Emboldened with my new method, in 2017 I uploaded the 1st part of my method onto YouTube in a video called
"How to Read Notes Fast - The Landmark System"
What followed was incredible...
Blogs started featuring my video.
Music teachers started recommending that video to their music classes (some even emailed me, thanking me)
Parents started sharing that video with their kids and thanking me.
The video was so powerful, dishonest music teachers began to pirate it, put it on their own websites, and claim it as their own...
Isn't that crazy?
Today that video has over 6 million views.
Along with the YouTube video, I created a course, "The Note Reading Bootcamp", that went in depth and trained people in the concepts from that video.
However, that course only covered "The Landmark System", which is only the 1st part of "The Problem Reduction Method".
The three parts of "The Problem Reduction Method" that get students reading music super fast are:
1. The Landmark System
2. Intervallic Speed Reading
3. Pattern Recognition
I had planned to create a full course with all 3 parts, but alas, never got to it.
That was until the 2020 pandemic hit and I finally decided to focus and finish what I started.
I spent over 14 months creating the course you see today...
Read Music FAST!
This 16+ hour course will teach you how to take all the music that you want to play and learn the it FAST.
In the course I not only go through "The Problem Reduction Method", but also train you using software programs and working with you through pieces of music.
In fact, I worked with 3 award winning composers to design and compose over 50+ pieces of original music for you to play. These pieces have been carefully designed to teach you musical concepts and get progressively harder from beginner to advanced.
Now reading music fast isn't just about being able to process what you're seeing on the page quickly.
You see, to read music fast, you also need to be able to physically execute what's on the page with your fingers, hands, arm and body.
That's why in this course I incorporated my Smart Piano Technique method.
This course "Read Music FAST" connects speed reading music, with smart piano technique, so you can learn music fast.
And this course is 100% appropriate for complete beginners of all ages.
In fact, I've had beginning students in their 80's take the original "Note Reading Boot Camp" and have success.
And within YouTube and previous courses, I've been known for making concepts easy to understand and have experience working with complete beginners.
Not only that, within the course, there is an open Q&A section, where you can ask and get questions answered as you progress through the course.
By the end of this course you'll understand:
- Beginner piano foundations
- How to identify notes quickly using The Landmark System
- How to read music quickly using intervals and recognizing patterns
- How to read rhythms - beginner, intermediate and advanced
- All the music symbols and terms (a lot of Italian words!)
- How to play the piano with solid technique - beginner, intermediate and advanced
- Music Theory and how it applies to reading music quickly
- How to build a repertoire of pieces and songs you love
To put it simply, by the end of this course, you'll be able to print out music or open up a book of music and quickly be able to play what you see.
I'm excited for your journey to begin and I look forward to seeing you on the inside!
